Assembly Commission publishes annual report
16 Jul 2009
The Assembly Commission has pubished the annual report and accounts of the National Assembly for Wales for the period 2008-2009.
The report celebrates a number of the Assembly's highlights over the past year including the making of the first item of primary legislation to be made in Wales since the 10th century, the NHS Redress (Wales) Measure 2008. The Measure is the first bilingual Measure in Britain. In all, four Measures were made by the Assembly during its 2008-2009 session.
The report also celebrates the results of a survey commissioned by the Assembly which state that 70% of the population of Wales now support partial or full devolution of powers in Wales.
In a foreword by the Llywydd of the Assembly, Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas stated that whilst the achievements of the Assembly had not gone unnoticed, there was still work to be done in order to raise awareness of the Assembly's role further and to ensure that the Assembly was representative of all sectors of Welsh society.
