Consultation – Review of Statutory Instruments
20 Oct 2009
The Assembly’s Subordinate Legislation Committee, which considers all Assembly statutory instruments and draft statutory instruments required by any enactment to be laid before the Assembly, is carrying out a public consultation as part of a review of Assembly Statutory Instruments (SIs).
The Committee’s role is to report on each instrument, and where appropriate, invite the Assembly to pay special attention to a particular instrument where the Committee has identified issues such as drafting errors and inconsistencies. Such errors might include but are not limited to, legal or typographical errors and inconsistencies between English and Welsh texts.
As part of its consultation, the Committee has asked for views on the drafting of Assembly SIs and the points raised by the Committee in its reports, together with views on how inconsistencies in English and Welsh texts should be addressed.
The consultation closes on 16th November 2009.
